Since 2001, Red Ball has raised millions of dollars, bringing together business, civic, and community leaders in support of the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross. This milestone year, we will recognize the everyday heroes who strengthen our communities through compassion, resilience, and service. Together, we will celebrate 25 years of making a difference while investing in a stronger, more resilient future for Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Nominate a Hero

Nominate a Hero to be honored at the 25th Anniversary Red Ball

Hero Nominations are now being accepted for our 2027 event! The heroic action should have occurred between Jan. 1 and Nov. 1, 2026. The hero must be either from or currently residing in the Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, or Montgomery County, but their heroic action(s) could have taken place anywhere.

Emily Gindele:

Two years ago, Emily Gindele survived a horrific crash that claimed her fiancé, Colin Reedy. Multiple blood transfusions kept her alive. Today, Emily is organizing the Colin Reedy Memorial Blood Drive with the American Red Cross in Chester County. Join us as we honor Emily for paying it forward and helping save lives through this blood drive. Emily’s story is a powerful reminder: one donation can change everything.

Trooper (Ret.) John Finkbiner:

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper John Finkbiner saved the life of one-year-old Carter, who was choking on a cracker while his family drove along the PA Turnpike in Montgomery County. Responding quickly, Trooper Finkbiner used his American Red Cross training to clear the child’s airway and restore his breathing. His actions are a powerful reminder that training saves lives. Join us as we honor the now-retired state trooper for his heroic actions.

What began in 2005 as a small blood drive at Franklin Mills Mall has grown into one of the nation’s largest. This June marked the 20th year of the “I Bleed for Preston & Steve” Blood Drive with the American Red Cross — collecting 21,999 units of blood since its start. Supported by WMMR’s on-air personalities and a passionate community of donors, the event has become a lifesaving tradition.
