Take the first step to becoming a volunteer with the American Red Cross Gold Country Region, below are just some of the ways you can get involved:
Red Cross volunteers are the first to the scene of a disaster and provide immediate relief assistance, such as shelter, food, and clothing, to people displaced as a result of a disaster. Our volunteers also train incoming volunteers to ensure that the Red Cross has some of the most highly qualified, well-prepared volunteers in the emergency response realm. Help people affected by disasters raging from home fires to floods by providing food, shelter, essential relief supplies, comfort and hope.
We rely on volunteers to prepare our citizens for disasters large & small. Using a grassroots approach, we put boots on the ground to talk to businesses, schools & organizations to help put them on the path to preparedness. Volunteers work with youth to instill a mindset of preparedness, thereby ensuring that preparedness and self-reliance will be part of our culture for generations to come.
For more than 100 years, the Red Cross has supported our men and women serving in the military, as well as their families. Today, our volunteers help members of the military through pre-deployment briefings, emergency communication, support accessing financial services and more.
Teach vital lifesaving skills such as those in first aid/ CPR/ AED, babysitting, water safety, and pet first aid courses.
Coordinate fundraising for measles vaccines, educate youth about Geneva Conventions, and provide international tracing and messaging for loved ones separated by armed conflict.
Do you have a background or strong interest in media relations or fundraising? If so, consider assisting our communications and development teams in promoting Red Cross services. Communications opportunities include serving as a public affairs representative, photojournalist, and social media ambassador. Development opportunities include grant writing, event coordination, project management and donor acknowledgment activities. Make it financially possible for the Red Cross to deliver its lifesaving services. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that relies on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
