Every year, the American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri honors individuals who respond heroically to someone in critical need. This signature event recognizes remarkable people from our community who acted courageously out of the pure compassion of their heart. The Red Cross recognizes individuals in the 9 categories, including: Good Samaritan Adult/Youth, Firefighter, Law Enforcement, Blood Services, Community Impact, Military, Emergency Medical Assistance and Healthcare Professional.

Award Categories

Blood Services - Presented to a blood donor or organization that promotes community blood donation awareness and helps to build the community blood supply.

Community Impact - Presented to an individual or organization displaying leadership and commitment to the community by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.

Emergency Medical Assistance - Presented to an individual(s) who, during a time of crisis, provided medical assistance, including CPR, water rescue, and or first aid to a person or persons in need.

Firefighter - Presented to an on duty professional firefighter, volunteer firefighter, squad or team, including dispatchers who exhibited heroism in an emergency situation.

Good Samaritan Adult - Presented to an outstanding adult who responded to an unexpected crisis or who selflessly provided help or sympathy to those in need.

Good Samaritan Youth - Presented to an outstanding youth who responded to an unexpected crisis or who selflessly provided help or sympathy to those in need.

Healthcare Professional - Presented to a healthcare professional(s) who exhibited extraordinary response to an emergency or ongoing situation.

Law Enforcement - Presented to an on duty professional law enforcement official(s) including dispatchers, who exhibited heroism in an emergency situation.

Military - Presented to an active, reserve, ROTC, veteran or retired member of the Armed Forces who acted heroically above and beyond the call of duty, or a military supporter.

Criteria for Nominations

  • All nominations must be received by December 31, 2016 to be eligible for consideration.
  • The nominee must live within the 29 counties served by the chapter. (Adair, Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Crawford, Dent, Howard, Knox, Linn, Macon, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, Putnam, Randolph, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby, and Sullivan)
  • Please submit nominations online.
  • Nominations will only be accepted if submitted by the nominator. Self-nominations will not be accepted. The selection committee will review all entries, at its discretion, and may grant an award other than the one recommended by nominator.
