Every day, the Montana Red Cross responds to disasters including home fires, collects and delivers lifesaving blood and supports service members and their families across our state.

Wolf  Ametsbichler loves Montana's beauty. He also loves helping people. That's why his role as a volunteer blood delivery driver is the perfect fit. "You can do something meaningful while exploring the state. That's about as good as it gets,” he said.

Rose Callahan recently completed a year as an AmeriCorps member with the Red Cross in Billings and says the experience has changed her. "It has awakened me to what I have to offer to the world," Rose wrote. "This experience has transformed me. For good."

Helena High 17-year-old Joleigh Mandera has faced many mental health struggles in her life, finding joy in the small things like reading, rainbows and skating. She also finds peace of mind each time she donates lifesaving blood.

Margie Wherritt and Jo Ericksen found themselves caught in the crosshairs of Cupid’s bow one day in Minnesota. Thirty-five years later, they've built a beautiful family in an environment of acceptance. Together, they help others as Red Cross volunteers.

For Denise Burk, serving as a Red Cross board member is personal. In 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and required several blood transfusions. “I am here today because some kind stranger, whom I will never meet, donated blood,” Denise said.

Northern Cheyenne tribal communities are now better prepared for disasters after receiving supplies that will help them respond to emergencies and maintain communications, even during a power outage.

Missoula Hellgate High School junior Maizy Miller won a statewide contest for her essay on American Red Cross founder Clara Barton and received an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

Red Cross recently unveiled its newly remodeled Great Falls Blood Donation Center, Blood Processing Center and Reference Lab, followed by the opening of its new Twin Falls Blood Donation Center in July.

Following flooding across the Hi-Line in May and a boil order advisory in Hill County in April, Red Cross partnered with Anheuser-Busch to provide more than 100,000 cans of water to Havre residents and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy’s reservations.

After a derecho with gusts reaching over 100 mph ripped through Missoula in July leaving 23,000 people without power, Red Cross volunteers stepped in to help.
