It’s easy to get involved with the Red Cross in Southeast Indiana. Local opportunities include becoming a trained disaster relief response volunteer helping people affected by home fires; supporting trauma, cancer, and other patients in need by donating blood, platelet, and plasma at our local blood donation center; and learning CPR, First AID, and other lifesaving skills that will prepare you to respond to emergencies.

Maria joined the Red Cross as a volunteer in 1992 and later became a staff member, first as a Health and Safety instructor before joining Disaster Services in 2004. She has also worked as an International Services caseworker, a Service to Armed Forces caseworker and as an International Humanitarian Law instructor. Within disaster she has worked in a wide variety of positions across all aspects of response and deployed in support of disaster responses across the country.
While assuming the Interim Executive Director position, Maria continues to work as the Regional Client Care Manager. In that role, she supports our Disaster Health, Disaster Mental Health, Disaster Spiritual Care and our Recovery team as they assist those who have been affected by disasters across the region.
She resides in Southern Indiana with her husband and two children.
