someone in the U.S. needs blood

Every 2 seconds, someone in the United States is in need of blood. In the Greater Bay Area annually, we collect roughly 100,000 units of blood and partner with over 40 hospitals locally to provide blood. A majority of this is collected off site at businesses, schools and community centers. There are 6 blood centers located in Contra Costa, Fremont, Newark, Oakland, Pleasanton, and San Jose.

The mission of the blood services advisory council is to help find creative ways to increase community participation in planning blood drives and educational events to support the lifesaving work of the American Red Cross Blood Services.
