Volunteer Dennis Otoshi is a Registered Nurse who works out of the San Francisco office and is the Health Services lead for the local Disaster Cycle Services team. He also is a client casework supervisor, a DAT responder, ERV driver and teaches CPR.
“I have always been the type of person who wants to help,” Dennis said. “The feeling of having helped is the most satisfying reward of all.”
Since 2011 Dennis has responded to the Asiana Airlines crash-landing at the San Francisco International Airport in 2013, the Napa Earthquake in 2014 and three major fires in San Francisco this past January. Recently Dennis represented the 190 volunteers who responded to the fires, accepting the Heart of San Francisco award from Mayor Ed Lee.
To quote Dennis, “This award is for all of us. We volunteers demonstrate how anyone can help their community through the gift of time and effort."
