NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 15, 2021 — The Nashville Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce the Nissan Lifesaver Special will air on WKRN News 2. The televised musical program will air on WKRN News 2 on Wednesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. featuring chief meteorologist for News 2, Danielle Breezy, News 2 anchor, Neil Orne, and Voice of the Titans, Mike Keith as hosts for the televised event.
“With Coronavirus this year, we realized early on we needed to pivot from our traditional and in-person Lifesaver Breakfast,” said Joel Sullivan, regional executive director for the Red Cross Tennessee Region. “That event has been a well-attended breakfast for the last 20 years. This year will be different for us with a musical, live television program that will show what the Red Cross does in the Nashville area and beyond as we fundraise. We are very pleased to partner with Nissan, WKRN News 2 and the Tennessee Titans for this television special.”
The special will feature Dierks Bentley, Radney Foster, Amy Grant and Chris Janson performing and talking about why they support the Red Cross. There will be appearances by T-Rac and the Titans Cheerleaders, and players from the Nashville Soccer Club. Title sponsor, Nissan, is joined by this year’s segment sponsors, Ascend, Core Civic, Dollar General, Ingram Charities and the National Soccer Club; this year’s Humanitarian sponsors, CHS, Delta Dental, Kroger, LifePoint, Pinnacle and Read and Associates alongside of other key community supporters.
A large part of the Nissan Lifesaver Special will focus on the anniversary of the deadly tornadoes that tore through parts of the state on March 3, 2020. It will feature stories of the disaster, and of hope and recovery by News 2 reporters.
“We are happy to support this worthy cause,” said Tracey Rogers, vice president and general manager for News 2. “March 3, 2020 will be a day we will remember forever as a news operation. We saw firsthand how citizens worked together and how the American Red Cross was there to help fulfill the mission of serving those at their greatest time of need. We are thankful for the Red Cross and this opportunity to give back to an organization that has done so much for our community.”
The Nissan Lifesaver Special will also share the important mission of the American Red Cross. The annual event is instrumental in raising the financial resources necessary to provide the core humanitarian services offered by the Red Cross.
