NASHVILLE, March 11, 2019 — The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce Sherri McKinney as Director of Communications and Marketing.
“We are excited to have Sherri join our leadership team with the Red Cross,” said Joel Sullivan, Regional CEO. “She brings to the position a long career of media relations, crisis communications, public speaking and marketing skills that will benefit our mission throughout Tennessee.”
Previously, McKinney served 18 years with the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. During this time, she was a senior video producer, host of the television program “Real Virginia”, and was recognized nationally for her efforts with many American Farm Bureau Federation awards, and national Videographer Awards. Prior to her work with VFBF, she was a news reporter and anchor in television markets in Charleston, W.Va. and Richmond, Va.
McKinney is a West Virginia native, growing up in Beckley, W.Va. She graduated from Marshall University with her a degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her time in college she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and was a representative on the Student Government Association.
Passionate about serving others and supporting education, she has been a volunteer local executive director with the Miss Virginia Scholarship Organization since 2009 and has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarship to young women. Through her work with MVSO, she has also helped to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout Virginia.
The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross serves all 95 counties in Tennessee, Crittenden County in Arkansas and Desoto and Tunica counties in Mississippi.
