Mind-Body Workshops

Healing wounds using the mind, body and spirit


The American Red Cross is dedicated to supporting service members, veterans and their families with manage the stresses of military life. Through the creation of Mind-Body Workshops the Red Cross teaches easy-to-use skills that connect the body with the mind to help participants cope with stress and trauma. Workshops are free and offered in small groups by licensed mental health professionals.

Available Workshops

Introduction to Mind-Body Skills

This module offers an introductory look into mind-body techniques and is recommended for participants who are unsure about which module might be best for them, are hesitant about trying mind-body skills or would like to practice foundational mind-body skills.

The mind-body skills taught in this module are:

  • Breathing
  • Mindfulness Techniques
  • Stretching and Movement
  • Body Awareness and Functioning
  • Guided Imagery
  • Using Mind-Body Skills

    This module guides participants through ways mind-body techniques can be used for personal and professional growth.

     

    The mind-body skills taught in this module are:

  • Drawing
  • Journaling
  • Meditation and Mindfulness
  • Body Awareness through Body Scan, Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Mirroring
  • Self-directed Imagery

    SAF Workshops are intended for groups of three or more, and we are unable to accommodate individual requests for workshops at this time. For information on other SAF programs, please contact your local Red Cross chapter.
