Make a Gift in Honor/Memorial

An American Red Cross honor gift allows you to celebrate the memory of a loved one, recognize special milestones, or acknowledge a person who has made a difference in your life.

To make a gift in honor or memorial, please call 702-369-3674. You can also make a gift online or start an online fundraising campaign.

When your gift in honor is received, the American Red Cross will promptly send a personalized tribute card to the person or family you indicated, notifying them of your thoughtful donation. All donations are tax-deductible.

Planned Gifts

These are gifts through wills, life insurance, pooled income funds and charitable trusts. With a planned gift, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping others, with the added benefit of tax savings. For more information about any of the planned gift options below, please contact Nancy Gerald at 602-336-6667.

You can name the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross as a beneficiary in your will. You're free to designate the bequest by a specific amount, a percentage or some other manner. By naming a charity in your will, you control your assets during your lifetime and can reduce the death tax calculation on your estate.

Life Income Gift
You can transfer assets to the American Red Cross while retaining the right to use the assets during your lifetime. You are able to utilize this gift as a current income tax deduction.

Gift of Life Insurance
You can donate either paid-in-full or ongoing-payment life insurance policies to the local chapter to help support programs and services. This gift can be used as an income tax deduction.

Gift of Retirement Assets (IRA, 401k, etc.)
You can name the Southern Nevada Chapter as the beneficiary of your retirement plans. With this gift, you can avoid double taxation on your income and estate.

Pooled Income Fund
Your gift of money, marketable securities or both can be invested together with similar gifts from other supporters. The contribution can serve as an income tax deduction.

Charitable Lead Trust
You can create a trust so that income is annually provided, from cash or investments, to the local chapter for whatever number of years you desire. When the trust's term expires, the assets revert back to you. With the charitable lead trust you have the benefits of ownership and tax deduction.

Stock or Securities Donation
Making a gift of securities is simple and offers a number of valuable financial benefits. You can donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.

Donate Clothing Packs

Many fire victims leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The American Red Cross provides clients in need of emergency clothing with a change of new clothes. Community partners can purchase these materials and assemble the clothing packs we distribute to fire victims in our community.

A clothing pack consists of the following:

  • Sweatshirt and sweat pant (for winter use) or T-Shirt and short with elastic waistband (for summer use)
  • New - No used items accepted
  • Plain - No logos, writing, or printing
  • Any size - adult S - 4XL (top and bottom needs to be same size)
A donor acknowledgement card can be inserted into the clothing pack if desired. Call Brooke at 702-369-3674 to begin this meaningful project.

Donate Comfort Kits

When a family in Southern Nevada loses everything in a fire, the American Red Cross is there to meet their most basic needs. Volunteers distribute “comfort kits” containing hygiene items like a toothbrush, razor and washcloth to clients. Call Brooke at 702-369-3674 for more information about this project.

Donations We Cannot Accept

We cannot accept contributions of food, clothing and furniture because our facility is not designed to store these items.
