No school, no group, no business…has ever reached 16,000 items

Thank you to the students of Irving Elementary School in Altoona for collecting over 16,000 personal care items in support of our Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces Totes of Hope campaign.

Representatives of the Red Cross had the opportunity to thank the entire school community for their extreme generosity during a special assembly held on Monday, March 6, 2017.

“No school, no group, no business…has ever reached 16,000 items,” noted Red Cross volunteer and Totes of Hope campaign coordinator Lori Demchak.

Student Council President Austin Beauchamp added, “There shouldn't be any homeless veterans because they served our country, so we just wanted to give them something in return.”

The items collected will be packed into backpacks that will distributed to homeless veterans with the help of the VA.
