The American Red Cross is helping eight people – six adults and two children – in two families after a fire today on Social Street in Woonsocket. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing and food needs.

This is the second fire response in Woonsocket for the Red Cross since Saturday, when the Red Cross worked with families displaced by a fire on Hope Street. The Red Cross is helping a total of 16 people in six families from the Hope Street fire with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

Since Saturday, the Red Cross has responded to six fires in Rhode Island – three in Providence and one in Burrillville on Sunday, as well as the two Woonsocket fires.

In all, the Red Cross is helping 32 people from the six fires, providing help for a range of emergency housing, food and clothing needs.
