AUGUSTA, GA. Friday, January 3, 2014 – The American Red Cross of Augusta is responding to an apartment fire on Broad Street in Augusta, GA today providing disaster relief assistance to the displaced residents. The Red Cross will provide comfort kits which include personal hygiene items, and lodging and funds for food, along with referrals to local partnering agencies.
The Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle is at the scene to provide canteen services for first responders who responded to the fire.
Because of trained disaster volunteers and financial assistance from the community, Red Cross has been able to help more than 550 individuals and 150 families affected by disasters in the Augusta Area last year.
