American Red Cross Seeks Local Heroes

The American Red Cross is looking for local standouts to honor at their annual Heroes Breakfast in April. Each year, the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago honors community members who have demonstrated heroism through extraordinary acts of courage or kindness. To nominate your hero, please visit or call 312.729.6271. Nominations will be accepted through January 25, 2013.

Awards will be given in the following categories – Adult Good Samaritan, Blood Services, Citizenship, Community Impact, Disaster Relief, Emergency Medical Assistance, Firefighter, Nurse, Law Enforcement, Military, and Youth Good Samaritan. Hero candidates must live or work in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry or Will Counties in Illinois, or Jasper, Lake or Newton counties in Indiana. The heroic act must have taken place on or after January 1, 2012. This year’s honorees will receive a Red Cross medal of honor at an event on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at The Fairmont Chicago.
