American Red Cross Serving Riverside County Honors Local Heroes

These individuals and organizations do so much to serve the community each and every day. We hope plenty of folks will come out and help us toast to their wonderful contributions.

Every day, we are surrounded by heroes. On Friday, September 11, 2015 the American Red Cross Serving Riverside County will be toasting some of those heroes at their annual Reds, Whites, & Blues event. Held on Patriot Day, the Reds, Whites & Blues celebration serves as a fitting tribute to recognize those who have made the community a better, safer place.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to showcase some truly inspiring people and organizations at this year’s Reds, Whites & Blues event,” said Lois Beckman, Executive Director at the American Red Cross Serving Riverside County. “These individuals and organizations do so much to serve the community each and every day. We hope plenty of folks will come out and help us toast to their wonderful contributions.”

Reds, Whites & Blues will kick-off at 6 p.m. at White Park in Riverside, Calif. Attendees will enjoy tasting food and wine from dozens of local restaurants, wineries and breweries. Patrons can dance the night away under the stars to live music, or try their luck at the silent auction. Most importantly, attendees will be able to join the Red Cross in recognizing those who are making a positive impact in the community.

This year, the Red Cross will honor:

• The Riverside Police Department, who not only provide the services necessary to ensure public safety, but also commit to providing services that will enhance unity within the community. The Riverside Police Department has supported the American Red Cross’ Reds, Whites & Blues event for three years.

• The Riverside Fire Department, which protects life, property and the environment within the city through proactive life safety, community education and emergency services programs. In the past year, the Riverside Fire Department played an instrumental role in helping the American Red Cross launch the Home Fire Prevention Campaign in Riverside County, through which hundreds of free smoke alarms were installed in vulnerable communities.

• Circle K Stores, a philanthropic partner of the American Red Cross. Circle K has donated over $10 million over the past five years to support Red Cross programs and services. Circle K has been the presenting sponsor of Reds, Whites & Blues for two years.

• Thompson & Colegate, Attorneys at Law, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary in Riverside. Thompson & Colegate financially support various non-profit organizations in the community, as well as encourage their employees to volunteer their time serving on various boards and committees. Thompson & Colegate was an inaugural sponsor of Reds, Whites & Blues and is a continued supporter of the Red Cross.
