Aug. 6 Field News: For Grand Canyon Chapter Volunteers

SANDY IN REVIEW: In the nine months since Hurricane Sandy struck, the American Red Cross has served more than 17.5 million meals and snacks, distributed more than 7 million relief items and provided nearly 113,000 health and mental health contacts. It has utilized more than 17,000 workers, including 30-plus from the Grand Canyon Chapter.

SO LONG, AMERICORPS: The Grand Canyon Chapter thanks its four outgoing AmeriCorps members, Jenna Hulke, Crystal Robeson, Holly Salas and Dani Winhold, for a great year of service. We appreciate the many things you’ve done for the Red Cross!

DISASTER SYMPOSIUM: The Grand Canyon Chapter has reached capacity for its annual disaster symposium Sept. 6-8 at the Crowne Plaza hotel, located at 2532 W. Peoria Ave. in Phoenix. If you missed out this year, make sure to register early next year!

BLOOD DRIVE: The Red Cross is holding a blood drive Aug. 15 at the Grand Canyon Chapter’s headquarters, located at 6135 N. Black Canyon Highway in Phoenix. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Emergency Operations Center. To make an appointment, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit and enter the sponsor code “arcgrand.” All donors will receive a voucher for a buy-one-get-one-free ticket to a Phoenix Mercury game, as well as a Red Cross water bottle.
