The Cape & Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual meeting June 18, hosted by the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster.

The annual meeting is held not just to elect new board members, but to celebrate the activities of the American Red Cross in the last fiscal year.

The Cape & Islands Chapter is growing – new volunteer leadership, a reinvigorated spring heroes breakfast and with plans under way for a third disaster 5K, there’s lots going on at the Red Cross.

At the annual meeting, new board members were elected, including Dave Bushy, Amber Cummings, Frank Riccio, Elizabeth Dunton, Ginger Doonan and Tracy Shaughnessy. The new officers elected are Chaiman Denise Johnson, Vice-Chair Barry Rector and Catharie Nass, Clerk.

The Community Service Award was presented to the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) and Sean O’Brien.
