Central Illinois Floods: A Family of Hope

The Illinois River is rapidly approaching the Greer's home, and will soon overtake it.
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best and the Red Cross does the same

For Joe and Pam Greer, they can only get to their home by raft. The Greer’s Spring Bay home is completely surrounded by water, due to flooding.

The Greer’s say they are not completely displaced just yet, but expect to be by the end of the night.

“Prepare for the worst and hope for the best and the Red Cross does the same,” said Joe Greer.

The Greer’s sought refuge at a shelter activated by the American Red Cross Central Illinois Chapter down the street from their home at River’s Edge Methodist Church.

“The Red Cross is always here to support us in times like this,” said Pam Greer.

According to Joe Greer, this is not the first time the American Red Cross has assisted this community and he has doubt this will be the last.

“We have always supported the Red Cross and they’ve always supported our community,” said Joe Greer.
