Chapter Awarded $6,500 Grant

This past year, the Historic Virginia Chapter responded to 65 single and multi-family house fires, involving 212 individuals.

The Historic Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross recently received a grant in the amount of $6,500 from The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust. The generous gift will enable the Red Cross to continue direct relief efforts for individuals and families who are affected by single and multi-family fires and other disasters in the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford and throughout Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties, as well as increase the level of preparedness and resiliency in these local communities.

This past year, the Historic Virginia Chapter responded to 65 single and multi-family house fires, involving 212 individuals. The chapter also opened and staffed two shelters following the derecho storm in June, sheltering more than 600 individuals.
