Tune in Friday, March 15, 2013 during Red Cross Month to the “Be an Everyday Hero” Radiothon on Country Legends 106.9 FM broadcast live from Fairlawn Plaza Mall in Topeka, 6am-6pm.
The 12-hour live Radiothon on Country Legends 106.9 FM showcases the American Red Cross and stories from community members and families whose lives were affected by emergency throughout the 16-county region served.
In addition to raising funds, a Red Cross blood drive will also take place at Midwest Martial Arts at Fairlawn Plaza from 11am -3pm. Blood donors are encouraged to visit redcrossblood.org to sign up for a slot, but walk-in donors are also accepted. More information can be found at www.countrylegends1069.com/.
The Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need, they aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; our communities are ready and prepared for disasters; everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.
Money raised from the radiothon stays right here in northeast Kansas. The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on donations of time, money and blood to do its work. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs.
