The American Red Cross Mile High Region is pleased to announce Denver-based DCP Midstream as the official 2013 sponsor of “Red Cross Month” in Colorado.
President Obama has declared March “Red Cross Month” across the country, and on March 1, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed a local proclamation designating March Red Cross Month in Colorado. During Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross recognizes the many everyday heroes who give of themselves and in some way help their community.
As part of their sponsorship of Red Cross Month, DCP Midstream has committed to matching all donations made during the month of March to the Mile High Region of the Red Cross, up to $20,000.
“The Red Cross in Colorado has continued strong for nearly 100 years because the Red Cross is made up of everyday people coming together to make a difference – it’s neighbor helping neighbor,” said Gino Greco, CEO of the Red Cross Mile High Region. “We want to thank our heroes during Red Cross Month – the volunteers, class takers and financial supporters like DCP Midstream who help us assist those in need.”
March was first proclaimed as Red Cross Month 70 years ago by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since 1943, every president, including President Obama, has designated March as Red Cross Month. The American Red Cross is synonymous with helping people, and has been doing so for more than 130 years.
“DCP is appreciative of the work that the American Red Cross does on the ground during crisis and preventively to support communities and individuals. We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross in Colorado and honor all the local heroes in our communities who have changes lives for the better,” said Roz Elliott, Vice President, Public Affairs and Investor Relations.
As official Red Cross Month sponsor, DCP Midstream is the presenting the 11th Annual Mile High Chapter Breakfast of Champions on Friday, March 8, as well as a Red Cross “Day at the Capitol” on Tuesday, March 19.
