Evacuation Center Opened in Irvine

American Red Cross volunteers provided a safe place to stay, food and emotional support to evacuees.

Santa Ana, Calif. – The American Red Cross opened an evacuation center for people impacted by today’s gas leak in Irvine.

The center was located at:

American Red Cross volunteers provided a safe place to stay, food and emotional support, including mental health counseling, to all evacuees.

Should a similar situation occur elsewhere, local residents are encouraged to be aware of the following safety tips:

  • Do NOT use matches, lighters or other open flames or activate light switches, electrical appliances, flashlights, doorbells or even garage door openers, as they could create a spark.
  • Do not re-enter the area until authorities have declared it is safe to do so
  • Use 911 only in the event of life-threatening emergencies
