Firefighters partner with Red Cross to raise $250,000 to help local families affected by home fires.
On Thursday, May 8, the Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada (PFFN) will launch the annual Fire Hurts...Red Cross Helps campaign to raise $250,000 in order to fund emergency assistance to local families who have lost their home to fire. The money raised for this campaign stays in Northern Nevada.
"We are thrilled that the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada are partnering with us in assuring that local families are afforded the help they so desperately need when a disaster occurs. The Red Cross and fire fighters work side by side comforting those affected and offering them the first steps to recovery," said Clara Andriola - CEO of the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada.
"As professional fire fighters, we respond to fires as they are happening," says Bryon Hunt with the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada. "The Red Cross comes after the fire is out. The Fire Hurts campaign is a natural partnership with the American Red Cross as we work together to meet the immediate needs of local victims of fires."
