Serve a vital role in the community by becoming a Red Cross blood drive sponsor.

Being an American Red Cross blood donor is a great way to help others and make a difference. Blood drive sponsors also play a vital role by hosting drives in their community. The Red Cross greatly appreciates the generosity of both blood donors and blood drive sponsors.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HOST A BLOOD DRIVE.

Sponsoring a blood drive can be a rewarding experience for organizations such as businesses, schools, churches and other civic groups. It is a great opportunity to build morale and camaraderie as fellow members, students or employees work together for a good cause.

A family member’s story is what spurred Nichole Brown, of Goodyear, Arizona, into action. Nichole’s cousin, Tony, was just six years old when he was diagnosed with brain tumors and given less than a year to live. With blood transfusions as part of his treatments, Tony lived 10 more years.

“Before my cousin passed away, he asked that our family would continue to donate blood so sick kids and patients like him, who need blood, would have it,” said Nichole.

Since Tony’s request, Nichole has sponsored 11 blood drives in her cousin’s memory, in coordination with two local businesses.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it if it weren’t for my family and friends who come out and support every time I put on a blood drive,” said Nichole. “We always have such an amazing experience remembering what a wonderful person he was.”

Since Nichole’s initial interest in blood donation and sponsoring blood drives, she has become an employee at the Red Cross working to recruit other organizations in the community to host blood drives.

Every day, there are thousands of patients, like Tony, who are counting on generous blood donors and sponsors to give their time and the gift of life.

FEEL THE REWARDS

Almost any organization can support the American Red Cross by hosting blood drives. Blood drives can be held either on a Red Cross blood donation bus or in the facility of the hosting organization. A Red Cross representative will work with the sponsor to determine the best set up for the blood drive.
