Join Red Cross Giving Day and Help People in Need

Giving Day

The American Red Cross is asking everyone to #help1family who has lost everything to a disaster by participating in the 2016 Red Cross Giving Day on April 21. Giving Day is a one-day fundraising campaign supporting the Red Cross mission to help people in need of emergency support.

Visit the Giving Day website, enter your information, and your gift will be on its way to helping people in need. Make an impact. Your gift can provide urgent relief such as food, shelter and other essentials to people who need it most.

The Red Cross is teaming up with iHeartRadio and What’s Trending for a Tube-A-Thon, which will be live-streamed on Wednesday, April 20 from 7-9 p.m. PT. In combination with Red Cross’s 2Steps2Minutes campaign and Red Cross Giving Day, this year’s Tube-A-Thon focuses on how to #help1family after a home fire. Find out more here.

TURN FEAR INTO HOPE Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster – mostly home fires – in which a family has lost everything - the roof over their heads, their clothes, and their most cherished possessions. And each time the Red Cross helps one of these families, it’s the start of a new story in which fear turns into hope. That story is made possible by compassionate people like you.

HELP A FAMILY RECOVER Donations to Giving Day’s #help1family can help a family begin to recover from a disaster by:

  • Supporting a family in urgent need: provide funding to give a family food, blankets, and other essentials.
  • Supplying warm meals: help provide comforting meals to a family impacted by disaster.
  • Providing clean-up kits after a disaster strikes: make clean-up kits available for families in need that include vital items such as a mop, bucket and disinfectant.
  • Deploying an emergency response vehicle for a day: Red Cross workers travel to impacted neighborhoods in fully stocked Emergency Response Vehicles to provide food, water and critical relief.
  • To provide any of these services and #help1family by participating in Red Cross Giving Day, visit redcross.org/givingday and be part of that effort to turn a disaster victim’s fear into hope.
