Join our Marathon Team


Registration for the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon closed in record time this year, but entries can still be obtained by signing up with the Chicago Red Cross, Run Red charity team. Run Red team members have the opportunity to train for a world-class running event while simultaneously raising funds to support the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross.

Since its inception in 2001, the Run Red Team has raised more than $450,000 for the Greater Chicago Red Cross. In exchange for reaching runners’ fundraising goals, runners receive expert training, team gear, and the support of a cohesive team.

To receive a race entry through the Red Cross, the fundraising minimum is $1,250 and includes:

  • Free race entry to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
  • Participation in the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) Marathon Training Program and registration as a CARA member
  • Free ticket to the pre-race Run Red banquet the day before the Marathon
  • Special recognition certificate upon completion of fundraising goal
  • Access to American Red Cross booth in Charity Village on marathon day, including private gear check as well as pre- and post-race snacks
  • Personalized Run Red Runner fundraising webpage with campaign tips and letter templates
  • Official Run Red Team singlet and Red Cross merchandise and Run Red e-newsletter with marathon updates, team events, and training tips
  • Complimentary Run Red team activities including fun runs and more
