Lawrence County Red Cross Adopts New Name

We proudly serve all of these communities and are not limited strictly to Lawrence County residents.

The American Red Cross – Southern Middle TN Chapter is the new name for the chapter serving Giles, Lawrence and Wayne Counties.

The chapter was known previously as the Lawrence County Chapter.

“The Lawrence County name at one time accurately reflected the area served by the chapter,” said Executive Director, Ginny Benson, “But our service area has since expanded to include Giles and Wayne Counties.”

While the Chapter name may be changing, one thing remains the same. The Mission of the organization is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Last year, the former Lawrence County Chapter responded to 27 home fires and assisted 84 individuals with their emergency needs.

“Our new name will better represent our service area to our donors, clients and volunteers,” added Benson. “We proudly serve all of these communities and are not limited strictly to Lawrence County residents.”

The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas: Disaster Relief, Services to Armed Forces, Blood Services, International Relief and Preparedness Health and Safety Services. The Red Cross depends on volunteers to carry out our vital mission.

About the American Red Cross: The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
