Gary Striar, Regional CEO of the American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region, is being honored by the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany. Striar will receive the Distinguished Alumnus in Public Administration and Policy Award at the College’s Annual Alumni Dinner and Awards Ceremony, to be held at the New York State Museum on Friday, May 16.
Striar oversees the 17-county Northeastern New York Region of the American Red Cross, which serves a population of nearly 1.9 million people. He led the operational consolidation of five separate Chapters to create this region, reducing operating costs by 20-percent while continuing to improve service to clients. “Our staff and volunteers feel privileged to work with a talented leader like Gary, who demonstrates a sincere passion for serving the needs of others,” said Kimmy Tavarez, spokesperson for the American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region. “He is an asset to the Red Cross and a deserving recipient of this honor from the Rockefeller College.”
