The American Red Cross is operating shelters and serving meals to people affected by new wildfires burning in Colorado and Utah.
In Colorado and Utah, new wildfires are burning, threatening neighborhoods and forcing people out of their homes. The Red Cross has shelters open in both states, which are also serving as evacuation centers where people can get information from officials.
Dean Phaneuf, manager of emergency services for Red Cross of Santa Barbara County, is being deployed to Colorado to assist those affected by the wildfires. Mr. Phaneuf has extensive experience assisting with disasters, though it will be his first time being deployed as a Red Cross Staff member.
