Lyons residents, State Rep thank Red Cross for flood efforts

"Thank you for extending a warm meal, a warm hand, and a warm heart"

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, residents and community leaders from the town of Lyons hosted a special “Knee Deep & Heart Felt” appreciation party to thank members of the Red Cross and local volunteer agencies for all their hard work helping Lyons after the 2013 floods.

During the event, State Representative Jonathan Singer presented Red Cross workers with a commendation from the Colorado House of Representatives and Lyons community leaders presented a banner signed with dozens of hand-written messages of gratitude.

The commendation reads, “The members of the Colorado House of Representatives are proud to recognize and honor the amazing efforts of the Red Cross, beginning with the onset of the September 2013 floods and continuing to the present day. Thank you for extending a warm meal, a warm hand, and a warm heart in the face of genuine devastation.”

The event also recognized the hard work and contribution of other voluntary agencies that assisted Lyons in the wake of the floods and through Recovery.
