The American Red Cross in partnership with UGI Utilities, Inc., will begin hosting Senior Emergency Preparedness Workshops throughout the NEPA Region. UGI Utilities, Inc. donated $100,000 to support senior preparedness, fire safety and prevention, and disaster services in both Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania communities served by UGI.
Disasters can strike suddenly, at anytime and anywhere. Senior Emergency Preparedness Workshops are for senior groups or organizations that would like to become better prepared in the event of a disaster. The program is designed to equip individuals with the basic information and resources needed to effectively handle emergency situations. The 1-hour workshop teaches the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for, recognize and recover from hazards and disasters in their home and community. To prepare the community, the Disaster Preparedness Workshop introduces the three step (Be Red Cross Ready) program which includes Get A Kit, Make a Plan and Be Informed.
Thanks to UGI Utilities, Inc. for their support of this program, all participants will receive a starter Red Cross/UGI Emergency Preparedness Kit and disaster plan information.
