Last year, the American Red Cross responded to nearly 200 disaster calls in the region, many of them leaving people without a place to live. Red Cross volunteers respond to house/apartment fires most often, leaving many families homeless unexpectedly.
The ‘Rooms For Red Cross’ campaign plays a key role in helping disaster victims get back on their feet and give them a warm place to stay. In addition, these rooms will be used on occasion for military personnel in need of lodging during an emergency situation.
“We are so proud to be a part of this program,” said April Eskelson, Sales Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn, Fargo. “Providing a warm place to stay for those that need it means a great deal to us.”
58 hotels in North Dakota/Northwest Minnesota have come together to donate close to 450 rooms for 2014. These rooms will go to those in need throughout the calendar year.
“We simply cannot thank these lodging partners enough,” said Judy Green, Red Cross Regional CEO. “Their willingness to partner with the Red Cross on this initiative is critical for our mission of assisting those affected by disaster.”
