Oprah Winfrey, Chrysler, Stars for a Cause and Leake Auto Team Up to Support Red Cross Relief for Haiti

It’s not very often that the American Red Cross receives the keys to a unique and beautiful vehicle-much less one that has been signed by many celebrities- but that is exactly what is happening on The Oprah Winfrey Show today in support relief for Haiti.

Chrysler’s Group’s President and CEO Olivier Francois donated his personal 300C Eco Style vehicle that was signed by such A-list celebrities as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Harrison Ford, George Lucas and Sophia Loren at the recent Golden Globe awards, to raise money for the Red Cross.

Oprah will sign the car on her show airing today and it will then be auctioned on February 20, 2010 at Leake Auction House in Oklahoma City with the support of Stars for a Cause to promote the auction.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will support Red Cross Haiti relief. Judy McCormack, a volunteer board member from Chicago, will be sitting in the front row of the show today representing the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross thanks Oprah, Chrysler, Stars for a Cause and the Leake Auction House for their commitment to not only the American Red Cross, but the people of Haiti.

Today, the most urgent need on the ground in Haiti is for safe shelter and the Red Cross is distributing tarps, rope, tents, blankets and sleeping mats. While the Red Cross is focused on the emergency needs of people right now, the people of Haiti will need help for many months and years to come. The Red Cross is starting that planning process now.
