Save the date of February 9, 2013! The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross is set to host its eighth annual “Vegas Night” Fundraiser at the Palmyra Moose Lodge, which this year is a Mardi Gras-themed event that will consist of table games, live and silent auctions, raffles, and door prizes.

Building on the Mardi Gras theme, for this year’s signature fundraiser, participants are encouraged to dress the part.

“Come on out to Vegas Night, don your feather boas and New Orleans garb, and have a great time for the Red Cross,” said James Love, Wayne County Red Cross Executive Director. “The proceeds help us continue to deliver vital services to our community in times of disaster, including assistance at house fires and deployments during major storms such as Superstorm Sandy."

Last year, Vegas Night hosted 300 people and raised more than $27,000 toward Red Cross disaster relief. The Red Cross expects to exceed that number this year.

Included in the ticket ($25 presale, $30 at the door) to the event, participants are given $25,000 in “Barton Bucks”, named after founder of the American Red Cross, Clara Barton. Anyone over the age 21 can play casino games such as Blackjack, Texas Hold ‘em, Roulette, Craps, Beat the Dealer, Over/Under, Chuck A Luck, and more. Presale ticket holders will be entered into a door prize drawing. Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar will be available.

Throughout the evening, people can play the various table games, participate in raffles, and bid on silent auction items. Barton Bucks can be used for raffle tickets to win prizes and for the live auction held at the end of the event. Larger prizes such as hotel stays, celebrity autographed items, and JetBlue airline tickets phone will be up for grabs in the silent auction, but available for purchase with real cash only.

Tickets can be purchased online at or at the Wayne County Red Cross Chapter, the Walworth Lions Club, or the Palmyra Moose Lodge.

Hosting the event will be Amanda Ciavarri, reporter for News 10 NBC. Local companies sponsoring Vegas Night this year include Constellation Energy, Berry Plastics, the Walworth Lions Club, Palmyra Moose Lodge, 1420 Wack AM, and Big Dog Country 103.5 FM.
