The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York’s (ARCNENY) 15th annual Fire & Ice Gala had a record attendance this year of more than 250 guests and raised nearly $45,000. Proceeds from the gala, which was held on Saturday, March 23 at Troy’s Hilton Garden Inn & Rensselaer Banquet and Conference Facility, will support Red Cross programs and services.
The 2013 Fire & Ice Gala was a strong showing of support and appreciation by a sold-out crowd for the great work that the Red Cross and its army of volunteers does throughout the Northeastern New York Region when calamities and disasters strike,” said Richard Sleasman, Board Chair for the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York and President/Managing Director of CBRE - Albany.
Former College of Saint Rose President, Dr. R Mark Sullivan, served as the gala’s Honorary Chair. Benita Zahn, News Anchor from WNYT News Channel 13, returned for a second time as Master of Ceremonies, and Lisa Scott, newly elected board member of ARCNENY, also returned for a second year as Chair of the Fire + Ice Gala’s Steering Committee.
“We were very excited to have Dr. Sullivan serve as the Gala’s Honorary Chair; the theme of the Red Cross as a community partner was often referenced during the evening and who better than Dr. Sullivan to personify the spirit of community partnerships as evidenced during his tenure as President of the College of St. Rose,” added Sleasman.
Beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting until midnight, guests dined and danced the night away. The evening consisted of: gourmet cuisine, open bar and specialty drinks, live and silent auctions, a “Wine Pull” sponsored by Southern Wine and Spirits, a Salvatore Ferragamo handbag raffle, and live music by the New York Players.
In addition to ARCNENY’s annual corporate and foundation supporters, the Fire & Ice Gala sponsors for 2013 included: Silver Sponsor - The Scott Family Foundation, Bronze Sponsor - Lia Auto Group, Décor Sponsor - Total Events, Design Sponsor - MVP Health Care, and Photo Sponsor - ISmile Studios.
The Fire + Ice theme represents the typical types of disasters that the Red Cross frequently responds to in the region.
