The American Red Cross welcomes Angela Frye to the staff of the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region. Frye has been hired as the Emergency Services Program Manager for Allegheny and Garrett Counties in Maryland and Mineral County in West Virginia (photo attached). Since her appointment, Frye has already been on the scene of multiple local home fires to manage the volunteer response and provide assistance to families displaced by disaster.
“Angela’s resume is impressive,” Frank Miller, Regional Executive for the Chesapeake Region says. “She brings a great deal of nonprofit experience to this role.”
Prior to joining the Red Cross, Frye held a management position with Kitchen Collection, LLC. She has also served with AmeriCorps VISTA as the Program Director at Frostburg State University and as the Community Development Worker with Western Maryland Area Health Education Center. Frye has volunteered with a number of organizations in the area including Community Crisis Response Team, Emergency Planning Committee, Citizen’s Emergency Response Team and as a board member of the Volunteer Center of Allegany County.
Frye is a graduate of Frostburg State University and calls Cumberland her home. For more information or if you have questions about her new role, contact Gonzalo Hernandez, Assistant Emergency Services Officer at 410/624-2043.
More than twice a day the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region provides basic needs to disaster victims such as emergency shelter, food, clothing and counseling to Maryland families after disasters thanks to major support from donors to the United Way campaigns in Maryland. Each day the Red Cross also provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
