Red Cross Assisting 20 People Following Apartment Fire in Lockport


The American Red Cross, Serving Erie & Niagara Counties responded to a fire on Dysinger Road in Lockport overnight, providing for the immediate emergency needs of 20 residents of the apartment complex displaced by the fire.

Disaster Action Team volunteers Diane Sargent and Leonard Hoffman responded to the call early Tuesday morning, working with the affected residents to provide vouchers for food, clothing and shelter as necessary. Red Cross case workers will be meeting with the displaced families throughout the day to determine their needs and will continue to assist them moving forward.

The Disaster Action Team is a group of specially trained volunteers who respond to the scene of a local disaster when called upon 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
