Red Cross Assisting Family of 9 in Genesee County Following Fire

Thousands of families are affected by fire each year
The American Red Cross provided immediate emergency assistance to 9 people affected by the fire.

The American Red Cross, Serving Genesee, Orleans & Wyoming Counties responded to a house fire in Pavilion on Tuesday, providing immediate emergency assistance including clothing and support to 9 people affected by the fire.

Volunteer, Thomas Brugman, responded to a single family fire on Telephone Rd. in Pavilion. The fire resulted in the total destruction of the house, the hospitalization of the father due to injuries sustained while rescuing his children and then escaping from a roof and forced the family of 9 to relocate due to fire, smoke and water damage. The family seeking assistance was provided with funding for food and clothing.

The Disaster Action Team is a group of specially trained volunteers who respond to the scene of a local disaster when called upon 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information on how to Join Us as a Disaster Action Team member, please contact the Red Cross at 343-6098.
