Red Cross Corporate Supporters Encourage Preparedness

Retailers nationwide are joining forces with the Red Cross to help encourage preparedness.

Are you ready for an emergency or disaster? September is National Preparedness Month, and retailers nationwide are joining forces with the American Red Cross to help people prepare for disasters, and to support disaster relief efforts.

Circle K West Coast and Florida Divisions, eBay, HSN, Lowe’s and Price Chopper Supermarkets have each teamed up with the Red Cross to provide customers with an opportunity to give back throughout September. The generosity of these companies, and their customers, will enable the Red Cross to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies every day.

Circle K West Coast and Florida Divisions

Customers at Circle K locations on the West Coast and in Florida can make in-store donations to support the work of the Red Cross including disaster relief and preparedness services. The company will also encourage customers to make a plan so that they are prepared for disasters at home, school and work.

Customers can now purchase emergency preparedness kits, first aid kits and more through the new Red Cross Storefront on eBay to benefit the Red Cross. In addition, between September 15 and September 29, customers can purchase preparedness items at a discount through, and 10 percent of the purchase price will support Red Cross disaster relief.

HSN Cares supports the Red Cross through an awareness and consumer fundraising campaign to encourage customers to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency. The HSN Cares Preparedness Store features a variety of products that are helpful in preparation for a disaster—such as flashlights, batteries and first aid kits—to provide individuals with the opportunity to safeguard themselves and their families. Customers who purchase items from the store will also have the option to make a financial donation to the Red Cross.

To encourage customers to be prepared for hurricane season, Lowe's is featuring a special end-cap display at select stores in coastal, hurricane-prone communities. The end-caps will include tear sheets with a list of recommended preparedness items.

Price Chopper Supermarkets

Customers can help their local Red Cross chapters prepare for disasters by making donations at checkout at Price Chopper Supermarkets in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. The company will also remind customers to become “Red Cross Ready” for emergencies by purchasing products such as batteries, water, and canned food. Price Chopper will match all donations made in September, up to $10,000.
