A fire at a four unit apartment complex in Pasco suddenly displaced nineteen residents early this morning. Four Red Cross volunteers mobilized quickly to assist these members of the five displaced families. They met with the families to help them through the devastating aftermath of the fire. They and provided the families with emergency supplies, client assistance cards for clothing and food, and put them up for three nights in a hotel. The Red Cross is working with community partners to line up emergency housing following their three nights in a hotel.
The Red Cross will follow up with the families over the course of the next few weeks to offer guidance and assistance as they embark on recovery.
“We are very thankful that none of the residents were injured, but unfortunately they lost virtually everything. We hope this community will rally to support them and assist the Red Cross with its response,” said Jeanne Jelke, Executive Director. “The Chapter has already committed nearly $6,000 in funds to assist these five families. We have also responded to several other large incidents this year. Therefore, we will really appreciate any contributions to our disaster relief fund.” Donations can be delivered or mailed to 7202 W.
