Red Cross Holds Blood Drives to Honor Those We Lost during 9/11

Volunteer donors of all blood types – especially those with types AB, O negative, A negative and B negative – and platelet donors are needed throughout September and beyond.

As we commemorate the 14th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the American Red Cross has partnered with 9/11 Day to provide individuals a chance to help others by giving blood at drives across the country. Volunteer donors of all blood types – especially those with types AB, O negative, A negative and B negative – and platelet donors are needed throughout September and beyond.

Some of these events include:

September 11 Day of Remembrance Blood Drive at Fenway Park

Location: Fenway Park, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, Massachusetts

Date and Time: Friday, September 11 from 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.

All presenting blood donors at this blood drive will receive a commemorative t-shirt, souvenir, a discounted Fenway Park tour and a chance to win Red Sox tickets!

Jersey City Police and Fire 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive

Location: Hyatt Regency Hotel, Manhattan Ballroom, 2 Exchange Place, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date and Time: Friday, September 11 from 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.

All presenting blood donors will receive a Red Cross preparedness kit while supplies last. The drive venue features views of the Hudson River, the New York City skyline and the Freedom Tower for blood donors to enjoy as they commemorate the day.

Laps for Life Blood Drive at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Parkway S, Concord, North Carolina

Date and Time: Friday, September 11 from 10:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.

Presenting blood donors will receive two Bojangles’ Pole Night Tickets, a commemorative T-shirt, a gift bag and an opportunity to take their own car around Charlotte Motor Speedway for three laps. Those who schedule and keep their appointment also will receive two tickets to the Drive to a Cure 300 Blue Cross Blue Shield race.

Laps for Life Blood Drive at Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama

Location: Talladega Superspeedway, 3366 Speedway Blvd., Lincoln, Alabama

Date and Time: Friday, September 11 from 12:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.

Presenting blood donors will receive two complimentary grandstand tickets to the Fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 24; tours of the track and International Motorsports Hall of Fame; visits to Gatorade Victory Lane; a chance to win assorted prizes; and a barbecue lunch with Golden Flake Chips.
