Red Cross Opening Shelter Near Danville

The American Red Cross is known for its disaster relief & emergency management efforts.

The Red Cross received a request to open a shelter in the city of Danville today. Many families were evacuated due to rising waters, so the Red Cross now has a shelter open to helps in Tilton at 1629 King Street.

This shelter is in addition to the two shelters in Douglas county in Villa Grove at the United Methodist Church at 302 2nd Street and the Cornerstone Church at 10 W. Jefferson St.

The response across central Illinois has now reached a level that we are requesting the assistance of our friends and neighbors. Please donate to the Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org/donate or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Any gift, large or small, can make all the difference to flood victims in central Illinois.

Anyone who needs Red Cross shelter assistance and those interested in volunteering on this relief effort should call their local chapter office at (217) 351-5861.
