Red Cross Opens Overnight Shelters

As winter weather continues to bury the Puget Sound area in snow and ice, the American Red Cross is opening overnight shelters to help people without heat and power.

Shelter Locations:

Issaquah Community Center, 301 Rainier Boulevard South, Issaquah, WA

Federal Way Community Center, 876 South 33rd Street, Federal Way, WA

First Christian Church, 701 Franklin Street Southeast, Olympia, WA (part of the Thurston County Shelter Coalition)

If someone needs to go to a shelter, they should bring prescription and emergency medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, toiletries, important documents and other comfort items. For families with infants and children, remember to bring items such as diapers, formula and toys. Pets are not allowed in shelters except in the case of service animals for people with disabilities.

The American Red Cross is a non-profit, humanitarian agency dedicated to helping make families and communities safer at home and around the world. All disaster assistance is free, made possible by the voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
