Red Cross Opens Shelter for People Affected by Mudslide

PUEBLO, CO – 9:00 p.m., July 2, 2015 – Around 8:00 p.m. the American Red Cross was asked to open a shelter for families affected by a mudslide that occurred near Cottonwood Lake in Chaffee County around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2015.

The American Red Cross will be opening a shelter at Buena Vista High School, located at 559 S. Railroad Street in Buena Vista, CO. Six American Red Cross Volunteers are in route to the shelter. 

According to the Chaffee County Office of Emergency Management, evacuations are underway for campers in the area of the mudslide.
