A snow storm dumped 4 – 15 inches of snow across much of the region Thursday, leaving thousands without power and in some areas, no water. Red Cross shelters opened in Lebanon, Bland, Pulaski and Marion. Many residents chose to shelter in their homes but shelters remained open for two days as estimates showed that approximately 112,000 customers were without power across the region.
In Pulaski, the water system had been rendered incapacitated by the storm, leaving thousands of residents in dire need of water. Pulaski Emergency Management requested that the Red Cross help with water distribution. Volunteers mobilized quickly, distributing nearly 70,000 bottles of water over three days to storm-weary residents.
