Two West Point Committee volunteers and a representative from the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) attended the annual West Point Community Fair at Eisenhower Hall on West Point Aug. 8. Approximately 700 newly arrived service members and their families attended this event, where organizations and businesses from the West Point area provided information on local resources.
The Greater New York Red Cross Region hosted a table and provided information on SAF programs at West Point, as well as volunteer opportunities, Red Cross lifesaving courses and upcoming blood drives.
“The event was well attended,” said Bridgette Ames, Greater New York regional caseworker, Service Programs. It provided an excellent opportunity to promote the variety of services the American Red Cross offers the West Point Community.”
The Red Cross relies on the volunteer spirit and financial generosity of the American people to support America’s military families. Today, as always, the men and women of the American Red Cross continue to show our appreciation for the dedicated service and patriotic sacrifices of America’s military men and women and their families by being there to support them wherever they are and whenever they need us.
