The American Red Cross supplied the Spirit Lake Nation with 75 cases of water due to frozen pipes in a rural water line. Approximately 40 homes are currently without water because of the issue. Volunteers delivered the water for all those in need of fresh drinking water.

"We have a great partnership with Spirit Lake Nation," said Sean Coffman, Disaster Program Manager in Eastern North Dakota. "We are glad to provide assistance and work with them on this response."

Even though the area is experiencing temperatures above freezing, because of the deep frost, rural water lines are freezing. Emergency Managers on Spirit Lake Nation are working with the Red Cross to make sure needs for all homes for are met.

"Working with the Red Cross has been a blessing," said Marty Alex, Spirit Lake Nation Emergency Manager. "They are always willing to help us with relief and recovery when we need it."

The Red Cross has also provide a shelter trailer for the emergency managers on Spirit Lake Nation if the need arises for one after a disaster.
