Red Cross first aid responders for the Marathon, get ready

April Marathon Mail Boston Red Cross
Volunteers and staff are right now sending out 800 pieces of mail to all eligible volunteers to update all certifications.

The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts has, for about 40 years, supported the Boston Marathon by providing first aid responders along the route.

This year will be no different.

Volunteers and staff are right now sending out 800 pieces of mail to all eligible volunteers to update all certifications, licenses and help get together teams.

Last year the volunteers of the American Red Cross were helping runners in record heat. Volunteers trained in techniques like the ice taco and other ways to quickly cool down runners along the 26.2 mile course.

It’s 14 degrees in Boston today, but plans for the Marathon are heating up. Team Red Cross, the group of runners who are running the Marathon to support the American Red Cross mission, are currently training for the big day.
