Volunteers and donors were recognized for giving their time, talents and treasure by the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties on Thursday evening. The Red Cross held its annual Volunteer and Donor Celebration at Alexandria’s Public House in Findlay to honor the many volunteers and donors who deliver and support Red Cross services and programs.
The Red Cross fiscal year ends June 30, according to Executive Director Todd James and the annual celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the work of the Red Cross in the community. “Our mission statement says it perfectly” says Executive Director Todd James. “The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Without our volunteer and donors, there wouldn’t be a Red Cross.”
Several volunteers were recognized for outstanding service during the evening, including:
Clara Barton Leadership Award
Extra Mile Award
Disaster Preparedness & Response Award
Volunteer Leadership Award
Service to Armed Forces Award
Special Citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service Award
Earlier in the day, the Red Cross Board of Directors held its annual meeting and elected two new members to the board. Hancock County Commissioner Brian Robertson and Mollie Zinser, Community Services Representative at The Heritage were each elected to a three-year term. John Whitson of Whitson Properties was elected to a two-year term as Chair of the Board.
